Futuristic is the word

I perviously posted about "Jetson" or Lady Gaga Dresses for the future. I found a really cute bag made by new designer Pauric Sweeney. Here is a article from Elle.

After stints as an architect, a furniture designer, and a ready-to-wear designer, Sweeney began making graphic clutches and purses in 2005, when he relocated from London to a palazzo in Florence to be closer to the tanneries in the area. Mixing up to 10 exotic skins—such as crocodile, alligator, stingray, and calfskin—on one piece, Sweeney created a patchwork of neoprenes and nylons for the Special 16 totes, perfectly in tune with the season’s neon-bright palette. “The colors came out of my subconscious, I think—I am a child of the ’80s, after all,” he says. “But the method and the madness of the pattern mirrors Cage’s volatile but measured sound in Imaginary Landscape No. 4, 1951.” The set includes bubble-gum pink shoulder bags with triangular puzzle-piece embroidery and yummy liquid gold carryalls—a nod to Cage’s futuristic style. “The idea of combining all those textures and colors is chaotic, but I think the overall effect is quite the opposite.” We couldn’t agree more.

Flirt with a new concept of cool

By Malene Birger spring/summer 2009 is mixed of 50’s styled voluminous, high waisted pleated skirts and contoured couture lines such as corsette like belts and bondage boots in contrast to sleek 70’s dresses and florescent swimwear separates. The designer's motto for 2009 is "the pleasure principle".
"The pleasure principle"

Bleach Out

There are so many styles of jeans to choose from this season: ripped, flared, low rise, boyfriend, skinnies and cropped. Vintage acid wash jeans are definately super hot in my book.

Abandoned fashion

Last summer out of boredom I took a trip to the NJ shore and found my self stumbling through Red Bank's town center. I was amazed. Being raised in NYC I always enjoyed the upscale retail stores and little unique boutiques along with outdoor cafes and returants and this place had it all. As much as I was attemped to stop and walk up and down the block, I had to pass. It was very hot out that day and my daughter was only 3 months old and sleeping in the backseat.
When I was home I bragged out that place to my husband and how we should spent a day there just browsing around. Given how busy we both were it was not until yesterday when I finally returned and I have to say it summed up to one word...DISAPPOINTMENT.
I was just not expecting what I saw, granted..it was still a pretty block but all I saw was hundreds of empty retail spaces, commerical buildings, and a awful lot of boring places. I kept saying to my husband "It changed so much in 11 months".
There used to be a huge Coach store, D&G, and cute little boutiques...all gone with the last of it hanging on hoping for sales. ..what a shame
